This guide will walk you through the steps to connect and configure your cash drawer.

Step 1: Connect the Cash Drawer to Your POS System

  1. Locate the COM Cable: Your cash drawer should come with a COM cable, which is essential for connecting it to the POS system. This cable allows communication between the two devices.

  2. Plug in the COM Cable:

    • Take one end of the COM cable.
    • Locate the input port at the back of your POS system.
    • Insert the cable into the input port securely.
  3. Connect the Cash Drawer:

    • On the underside of your cash drawer, find the port for the other end of the COM cable.
    • Plug the other end of the COM cable into the cash drawer.
  4. Position the POS System: Once the cable is connected, you can either keep the cash drawer to the side or place the POS system on top of the cash drawer, which is commonly recommended for space-saving purposes.

Step 2: Configure the Cash Drawer in the POS System

  1. Access the Settings:

    • On your POS system, navigate to the settings menu.
    • Select App Settings and input your manager code to gain access.
  2. Find the Cash Drawer Configuration:

    • Scroll down to find the Cash Drawer Configuration option.
    • Tap on the arrow on the right to access it. Again, you will be prompted to input your manager code.
  3. Enable the Cash Drawer:

    • Once inside the configuration settings, enable the cash drawer.
    • You will see options to turn on the cash drawer for different service types (e.g., dine-in, takeout). By enabling this, the cash drawer will automatically pop open when a cash transaction is processed for the selected service types.
  4. Manual Cash Drawer Access:

    • At the top of the settings page, you’ll find an option to manually open the cash drawer. It's recommended to enable a PIN requirement for this, so employees must enter their personal PIN before manually opening the drawer, ensuring accountability and tracking.

Step 3: Test the Cash Drawer

  1. Verify Manual Opening:

    • After configuring the cash drawer, you will see a new cash drawer option in the navigation bar of your POS system.
    • If you select this option, it will prompt you to enter a passcode. Once the code is entered, the cash drawer will pop open.
  2. Automatic Opening for Transactions:

    • Test the cash drawer by processing a cash transaction through the POS system. When you hit the "Cash" button during a transaction, the drawer should automatically pop open.

Step 4: Use the Cash Drawer Keys

  1. Access via Keys:
    • The cash drawer comes with a set of keys for manual operation. If the drawer jams or if the system isn’t functioning, you can use the keys to open it.
    • Simply insert the key, turn it to the left, and the cash drawer will open.

By following these steps, you can ensure your cash drawer is properly connected and configured with your POS system, providing efficient cash handling and security at your establishment.
