In this guide, we will walk you through the steps for processing a customer checkout using a credit card on the Deja Vu payment terminal.

Step 1: Begin the Checkout Process

  1. Select Card Payment:
    • The credit card payment will be initiated when an order is placed using the card payment on the Kiosk or the POS. On the POS, either follow the regular checkout process for an order or simply hit the Card option on the POS screen.
    • You’ll see a message stating Connecting to PDQ, which indicates that the transaction is being sent to your Deja Vu payment terminal.

Step 2: Displaying the Transaction on the Payment Terminal

  1. Amount and Tip Options:
    • Once the transaction is sent to the Dejavoo terminal, the customer will see the total amount, as well as options for tipping.
    • The customer can select one of the preset tip percentages, enter a custom tip, or choose No Tip.
  2. Tip Confirmation:
    • If a tip is selected, it will be displayed before the total amount. The final amount, including the tip, will be shown on the customer’s receipt.
    • If the customer opts for No Tip, the system will proceed directly to the payment screen.

Step 3: Completing the Payment

  1. Payment Methods:

    • The customer will now have the option to tap, insert, or swipe their credit card to complete the payment.

  2. Signature:

    • After the payment is successful, the terminal will prompt the customer to sign. Once the signature is complete, they will press OK to confirm.

  3. Receipt Printing:

    • The terminal will automatically print a merchant copy of the receipt.
    • It will then give the option to print a customer copy or send it via text or email.

Step 4: Tip Processing (Optional)

  1. No Tip Selected:

    • If the customer didn’t select a tip on the terminal, the receipt will print with tip options at the bottom, allowing them to add a tip manually.
    • The customer can input the tip amount on the receipt and close out the total.

  2. Tip on Terminal:

    • If the customer selected a tip during the terminal process, the final total, including the tip, will automatically be displayed on the receipt.
