Toast Mapping

Toast Mapping

Mapping helps in determining how the order information flows and shows in your POS system. It is crucial for ensuring that the transaction details captured when an online order is placed can be accurately processed and reflected within the POS system. Please map all options in Chef. It is required to configure all options while connecting to your POS. Mapping options which you are not using does not mean, those options will be enabled. Those preferences will just be saved in case you decide to enable any of these options later on.

Service Mappings

Proper mapping ensures that orders are processed correctly based on the service type selected by the customer. You need to map all the 4 offerable service types with the dining options configured in you Toast portal. If you want to bifurcate Online orders from other orders, you can create a new dining option in Toast and map the service types to those dining options. Here's how you can create a dining option:

  1. In Toast Web, navigate to Kitchen > Dining options > Dining options.
  2. Click on the add button, name the new dining option. No additional settings need to be defined. Save and publish the changes at last.

Tenders Mappings

Tender mapping can be helpful for reporting purposes. Please map all the displayed tender options to Toast payment options which you find suitable. Here's how you can create a new payment option in Toast:

  1. In Toast Web, navigate to Payments > Payment Methods > Other Payment options.
  2. Click on the add button. Just provide the name of the payment option, no additional setting needs to be defined. Save and publish at last.

Discounts Mappings

We support the use of Open Dollar Check discounts with Toast. You'll only see Open $ check level Toast discounts in the mapping section. Mapping open discounts minimise order total mismatch situations between the POS and the online order. Here's how you can create an Open $ Check discount in Toast:

  1. In Toast Web, navigate to Payments > Comps and Promos > Discounts and promo codes.
  2. Click on add a discount.
  3. Choose Open $ Off as the discount type and the discount needs to be applied to the entire check.
  4. Make sure no other settings apart from the ones mentioned above are changed. Save and publish the changes at last.

Charges Mappings

We need to map an Open amount Toast charge in the delivery and service charge section. You'll only see the Toast charges in the mapping section which are configured as Open amount charges. Mapping open charges minimise order total mismatch situations between the POS and the online order. Here's how you can create an Open amount charge in Toast:

  1. In Toast Web, navigate to Payments > Checks and receipt setup > Service Charges.
  2. Add a new charge, name it and just choose the charge type as Open Amount.
  3. In case of delivery charge, if the delivery charge needs to be taxed make sure the taxed option is set to yes. If not then the configuration should match in chef as well. Remember, to uncheck 'delivery is taxed' option in chef in that case.
